The fifth round of the FA Cup took place this weekend. Man City cruised through but, yet again an abject display by Man United saw them lose on penalties to Fulham on Sunday. As I type, Forest play tonight, so we'll see if Nige is still smiling tomorrow.

In cricket, the England One Day side got well and truly dumped out of the Champions Trophy, losing all three of their group games. As a consequence Butler has resigned his captaincy, though, in my opinion, the problems they are having go further than the chosen captain. Let's hope for better things in the upcoming Ashes Tour.

In the ladies World Championship event this past weekend in Singapore, world number three, Lydia Ko took the honours by four shots with a fabulous final round. After being only one behind before the final round, Charlie Hull dropped down to joint fourth place, six shots behind the winner, Ko.

The South African Open was badly affected by rain and was concluded with a play-off after the fourth round was washed out because of rain. South African, Dylan Naidoo, won the title from England's Laurie Canter after a play-off on the 18th hole.
