Hi members one and all hope, you all had a good week both on and off the course. No Premiership football to report on this week as Internationals take centre stage. Personally I was more interested in the England v Ireland Rugby, really good game looking forward now to the World Cup, come on England!
Results at the club this week were as follows, Pawson Cup played on Saturday the 5th September was won by Rob Paduch with Nett 68, another fine round from Bob, he's had a really good year having played some very consistent golf this season, his understudy Jason Render was full of praise for his mates performance of course, not a hint of envy was on show!!!, 2nd with Nett 69 was young Cam Tuck, Cam is knocking on the door of single figures now after a very consistent season. A special mention for Darren Fuller who recorded a great score of gross 70 conditions were far from easy, so real credit to Darren.
Sunday the 6th September saw the playing of the mixed open, the weather really came good, winners with a great score of 86 points was Ann Lambert, Steve Irving, Jude Livingston, and G.Arnold, 2nd with 80 points were Mark Pearson, Sue Pearson, Gary Simpson, and Julie Simpson, 3rd on 76 points were Paul Barker, Elaine Barker, M. Archer, and S. Archer. Well done to one and all everyone seemed to have a great day and that's all we as a club want to hear.
We have course maintenance this week so please be patient with the lads as it does mean some temporary greens and tees at various times, but it's work like this that keeps the course looking so good for the vast majority of the year. I must make a special mention for the members who have voluntarily, and free of charge given up there time to give the outside areas of the club house a freshen up, namely Tony Dann, Paul Barker, who I know have done the baulk of the work, Paul also spent the whole of Monday helping the lads on the course, so I'm sure I speak for everyone in saying a huge thank you to them both.
Upcoming events are Sunday 13th September ladies alternate day Centenary cup, and EWGA. Wednesday 16th September Ladies Centenary Cup and EWGA.
In the shop we have taken delivery of the first tranche of PING winter clothing with more to follow from FootJoy.
Both the Srixon soft feel and AD333 are on offer at £15.00 per dozen.
There is £10 pounds off any polo shirts ladies or men's( in stock only).
Don't forget to keep a check on the loft and lie of your irons, it can make a real difference to the length of your shots, remember if you play often the angles can change, so don't think that clubs that were checked a year ago are ok now.
Be aware of grip pressure we constantly teach players who are gripping the club as though there life depends on it, this leads to massive tension not just through the hands but indeed to the whole body, making it impossible to create a smooth and free flowing swing.
Hope that helps your game, if you have any other swing gremlins that need addressing then don't struggle on alone, do yourself a favour and book a lesson, it will save you a lot of time and energy not to say heartache.
I think that's about everything for this newsletter, hope you all have a great golfing week.
