Tuesday 14 April 2015 - Spring Cup
Vernon Poultney
Mike Ellis
A lovely Spring morning was enjoyed by the 42 competitors who competed in the Spring Cup.
Shop wise we are still full of all the new gear so if you're thinking of changing before the season gets fully underway then pop in and we will see what we can do to help. Big seller at the minute is the G30 irons priced at £70 per club and we are also offering a FREE fitting for PING irons on the FlightScope. In the last week a few customers have gained upto 25 yards extra with the new G30 irons over their previous set so I can't stress enough how much difference a custom fitted set of clubs will have on your golf game! If you require any more info then pop in and see us.
Also we are in the process of opening an Oakley account so coming soon will be a full range of Sunglasses for on and off the golf course so keep an eye out for them arriving! I have a pair myself and they are perfect to play golf in and help you easily track the ball in the air on those summer days/nights.
Gapping sessions
Gapping sessions have also been very popular in recent weeks with many of you fine tuning your game due to the season kicking off. Gapping sessions let you know how far you hit each club on average, both carry & total distance. You will be amazed how many people believe they hit the ball a lot further than they actually do! At the end of each season you get a printout of your numbers to take away with you so if you are unsure how far you hit the ball with each club it will be a £20 well spent to provide you with information that could have a massive impact on your game.
Loft and lie checks
We have also had quite a few people booking in to have the lofts and lies checked, it has been known that up to 85% of people play with the incorrect lies on irons & wedges so this is a must to have your clubs set up correctly for the season. Even new clubs straight from the factory are not guaranteed to be correct as many companies operate on a 2 degree either way basis meaning clubs could be miles out on what they should be! So it's worth having them checked out to be 100%. Prices are £3 per club or a maximum of £20 for a full set. If you require any more info then pop in and have a chat with myself, Paul or Robin.
Rob & Paul are still offering the 7 lessons for £100 so if you want to get your game in shape ready for the summer competitions then get booked in.
Football wise my United team played well but couldn't get past Chelsea's solid defence and payed the price with Hazard scoring the only goal of the game. Paul's Baggies had a huge win against the in form Palace which moves them up to 13th in the table and surely enough points to see them stay in the top division for at least another year! Town will have to do things the hard way and go up via the play offs so let's hope they pick their performances up for them!
Remember Friday, 1 May sees the 2nd Pro Roll up with this time being "Roll the Dice". Quite a few turned up for the first one and enjoyed it so hopefully we can get even more this time. Price is £5 and includes sandwich & chips after play.
Paul's preparations for the Pro Am continue so if any of you are interested in playing then pop in and see us or click here to let us know as we have plenty of teams left to fill.
Junior classes continue on Saturdays at 1pm so if any of your children want to give it a go come down, we provide all equipment and the charge is £3.
