Well another week of variable weather to say the least and as I type away this cold Monday morning it is hailing!! I am reliably told it is going to warm up through the week though.
Alex has just been for a week’s residential PGA course and I am pleased to say he has again passed with flying colours. He is now back in the shop and has a busy week on the FlightScope with several fittings and also gapping sessions. Please feel free to contact us if you are looking to take advantage of this great technology. Gapping sessions are £20 for half hour and a full 40 minute club fitting session is £25 for a 40 minute session. Also now is a good time to get your irons loft and lie checked at £20 per full set. Click here to book in.
Shop wise we have most of the hardware in now, only waiting on the PING Men’s woods to arrive. With a full complement of demo clubs available, now is a great time to upgrade for the season. Clothing is due in this month which will make the shop look mega full indeed. We have a great array of golf balls from Titleist, Srixon and TaylorMade too, all at great prices. Look out for the multi buy offers below to stock up for the season.
The 5th Winter League took place on Saturday with 25 couples entering. Top of the tree was Paul Clyburn and Wally Walsh with a better back nine 53 from Vinney Thomas with Joe Victory and then John Gale and Matty Barber. See the board for full results and updated league placings.
The first date for the Friday Pro roll up will be sorted as soon as the fixture books are out, the aim being April. This is an everyone mix-in playing session with the emphasis on fun. We hope you can support this with our plan for sandwiches and chips in the clubhouse after play too. Any ideas for different play conditions will be much appreciated. I have a few, one being a roll the dice to see what tee you will use on each hole, another a no putt game and another roll the dice to see who putts when your Texas scramble team is on the green, so hopefully you get the drift. There may also be fancy dress games, etc etc!!!

Just a reminder that I am now on with this year’s Pro Am and will contact all who played last year to see if you are playing again. Anyone who wishes to play who has not played before please contact me as you will be more than welcome to play.
The first date for the junior classes on a Saturday will be this week at 1.00pm at £3 per child (weather permitting) so again click here if you want to book anyone on. This is aimed at beginners under 13 and as we get into the season we will split the age/ability ranges to suit. If you have children older don’t forget we do 7 individual half hour sessions for under 18 ages at £60.
One note that it is Rob Welford’s last day Friday so I personally thank him for his efforts on the course these past years, and to wish Steve Beverley all the best as new head greenkeeper with us.
Sport wise a great win for Paul Gorman’s Ireland in the rugby over a lack lustre England. Indeed Ireland were better in every department and England’s discipline was poor to compound the one sided nature of the game. Albion had a great win at home to Southampton at the weekend and all the other results went our way too. Indeed Villa look in real trouble right now (shame!!) Chelsea beat Spurs in the Cup final and Liverpool look to challenge the top four positions with a great win against Man City.
