Well a great weekend at the club with all 18 holes open and plenty of freshly cut areas, including the greens which had also been rolled. The winter league Saturday saw 31 pairs enter with Waino and Jazza coming out on top with a fine 62. Look out for the full results on the board and updated league standings which sees P.J.Riley and Gaz Grantham top the leaderboard with 35 points after 4 rounds. Also well done to P.J. Riley on his epic bike ride for Cancer Charity on Sunday, assisted by Radar Reid I believe.
Monday saw heavy rain so as I write this slightly later than normal on Tuesday we see only 13 holes open with carrying only. A similar tale to normal this year in that, as soon as 18 holes come in to play the weather immediately disrupts again.
Don’t forget the entries for the knockout competitions are now being taken in the shop, but please do remember it is payment with entry only.
Monday saw Karl Morris return to the club for his mind talk. As yet I have no feedback so if you were there drop me an e-mail for feedback to post.
Amazingly we approach March 1st which is when I start preparations for this years' Pro Am. The date is Friday 19th June so click here to drop me a line if you are intending to play and/or sponsor a hole.
Lesson wise we are busy when the weather allows us to be as many of you prepare for the upcoming season. I am giving more lessons on the FlightScope, giving excellent figures for the pupil. Individual half hour sessions are £20 so contact us to take advantage of this excellent technology. Great bookings too with Micko for his brilliant gapping sessions right now where he will give you distances you hit each club, and also to spot any club requirements to fill in any large differential distances between clubs. Sessions are again £20 for a half hour session and again click here to book.
Shop wise we now have in much of the hardware for the opening season, with the recently arrived PING putters and new glide wedges to add to the Scotty putters and Vokey wedges already in. With Titleist and TaylorMade clubs in along with the demos for each brand now is a great time to look at any changes you may wish to make before the start of the season. We also have a full PING demo kit in, but are awaiting the early season stock.
However, LADIES note the new PING Rhapsody model of woods, rescue and irons along with matching demo kit are in store.
Football wise a great win for my boys against Wally Walsh’s and Steve Cortney’s West Ham sets a mouth watering tie up against Villa, who we will have played in the league a few days before. Apologies to Paul Gorman for telling him the wrong opponents against his Liverpool side, but Liverpool must have a chance now to see a final swansong at Wembley for Steve Gerrard. Town lost at home to Bristol Rovers, and apparently were poor on the day.
More sad news this week was the loss of Brian Ingham, a member for many years. Brian used to help me out in the shop when I was low on cover and was a passionate guy about his golf. My condolences to Wife Ann, our very own Ding and his sister Julie.
Well that’s it for this week, feel free to pop in for a browse or a chat about lessons, fittings, etc. or just to say hello. Have a great week, Paul
