Well another troublesome week weather wise meant the course was shut over the weekend again, but the lads have worked really hard pumping water away to get 15 holes open, carrying only as I type away this sunny Monday morning. Hopefully we will see continued good weather so the course can fully dry out.
Shop wise it has meant trade has been slow, but the lesson diary is filling up as many of you prepare for the summer season ahead. Don’t forget to book that all important gapping session with Micko on the flightscope, £20 per thirty minutes . We can then identify any game changes or club additions to boost your game for that playing season. It is also a good time for any club fittings ( £25 per 40 minute session ) so you will have time to bed new equipment in before the serious business gets under way.
Don’t forget clearance stock is being sold on our eBay shop so please have a look on cleethorpesproshop, and anything you purchase can be collected to avoid postage costs.
Newly through the door are Masters accessories bags and trolleys. With a superb cart bag at £69.99 and three wheel trolley at the same price you really can look good at a great price. Also just in is the TaylorMade ball stock. These balls were very popular last season so give them a go!!
Wednesday 11 February 2015 - 3 Clubs and a Putter
Some of the Cleethorpes ladies don't need any more than 3 clubs and a putter, as today's 15 hole stableford competition proved. The course was in remarkable condition after the recent wet spell and some very pleasing scores were recorded by 1. Christina Reid 26 stableford points, 2. Alison Fletcher, 24 points and 3. Elaine Barker, 22 points and she took it on the back 7 from Joan Wilkinson. Just proves that some of the Cleethorpes Ladies are really preparing well for the coming season!
Cleethorpes Golf Club Ladies Section - 3 Clubs and a Putter competition winners: Winner - Lady Vice Captain, Christina Reid, Lady Captain Anne Lambert, 3rd Elaine Barker and 2nd Alison Fletcher.
Tuesday 10 February 2015 - Devil Ball - Fun Competition
Winners - Colin Staniforth, David Oxborough & Alan Hargrave
Runners Up - Ebb Muller, Mike Ellis & Alex Campbell
Not a good day to being playing golf with plenty of fog and mist but 24 competitors were eager to play this new 'fun competition' which seemed to be enjoyed by all.
Don’t forget to book in for the Karl Morris mind session on Monday 16th February at 7.00pm in the clubhouse as this can give you a valuable slant on how to focus your mind better to improve results. He has worked with many of the top players so has a great pedigree.
Sport wise a great win for English rugby over rivals Wales in Cardiff on Friday night, with 13 unanswered points in a brilliant second half display. The cricketers have just thrashed The West Indies in a World Cup warm up game too!!
Football wise Hull gained a great point at Man City, leaving it more likely that Chelsea will win the title race. Man United got a last gasp equaliser against a good looking West Ham side, whilst my boys battled back for a vital 2-2 draw at Burnley, with nearly away Brown Ideye getting the equaliser. Is it the start of a run for him? Tottenham were quite superb I thought against Arsenal and deservedly won with new wonder boy Harry Kane getting both goals. He looks more and more ready for an England spot. Everton and Liverpool cancelled each other out in a less thrilling game.
Also look out for our Facebook page and Twitter account which Micko updates regularly (young you know so has the techno grasp the old two in the shop don’t have)
Lastly a sad piece of news is the passing of John Burkitt, a member for nearly 40 years and a past Captain. Our condolences to wife Pam and his family.
Well let’s hope this better weather is a sign of more golf, see you soon, Paul
