Well a great send off on Tuesday for the lovely Pat Barrrett who will be much missed by all at the Golf Club. Again our thoughts are with John and I know the membership will be there as ever for him.
Winter League
The winter league on Saturday saw 28 players take part in blustery conditions, but over 18 holes. The winning combo of Dave Smith with sub Simon Peart were the only pair to break par with a nett 68 (69) with the one shot sub add on, a truly great score. There were three 71’s, and in order they were John Gale & Matt Barber, P. J. Riley & Gaz Grantham and Martin Thompson & Zak Mawer. Look out for the up to date points list on the main notice board.
Wednesday 7 January 2015 - Invitation Stableford Competition
Although the weather conditions weren't favourable, the Invitation Stableford Competition which had been reduced to only 7 holes was well supported. Afterwards in the Clubhouse, the atmosphere was a little sombre as the ladies member stood for a minutes silence to reflect on the very recent and sudden death of one of their very dedicated and enthusiastic players, Pat Barratt. All entry fees from the competition were donated, in memory of Pat, at the request of her husband John, to the Humberston Hydrotherapy Pool and together with other donations received, £195 was collected with still many more to come. The competition results were: 1. Judith Gorman, 12 stableford points 2. Gill Woodward, 11 points and she took it on a countback from 3. Hilary Murray.

The Senior Gents had excellent support for their first competition of the New Year with 38 participants enjoying having their 'cobwebs blown away'!!

We currently have 13 holes open after a late night deluge Tuesday, but what a great job the lads are doing in keeping us playing in such inclement times.
A great win for my boys on Saturday in what was a sour match to be honest, but it is points that count at the moment!! I know Steve Bratten, Tony Diable and John Lock to name a few are smarting at Hull’s position at the moment. Town are struggling at the moment to say the least, but remain in the playoff places. A great win for Southampton against a lacklustre United on Sunday was probably the result of the week. Chelsea remain top with Man City drawing at Everton.
