Well another week of great weather, fine for us but not the course. However some rain is due in the next few days which should aid the recovery plan for the fairways and add to the improvement for the tees currently occuring with the fixing of the irrigation system. The system is now about 80% fixed, with some parts to complete on order as I type. Also with a new pump being installed to improve the capacity out of the bore hole things are looking up. It's been the most difficult period I have ever known for the club, and some have sadly jumped ship to join other local courses they feel are in better nick right now. I get this, but we must also balance this out with the fact we remain a friendly place to play golf, and we generally see it is easier for our members to get on at the times they want. Well done to the board for moving quickly to improve the equipment required for what may become regular drought periods, and to the helpers who are doing the tidying bits that have had to be left as Steve had to hand water every day whilst you couldn't get on the course. Remember too it is not an ideal piece of land for a golf course, and we don't have rich owners to fall back on in times of need. Lastly keep the faith, stay positive and learn to love your club again if you currently don't! Shop wise we are currently busy with fittings and lessons, and are slowly getting our coaching diary back to normal times after leaving gaps to aid social distancing. This should ease the difficulty you may have had in booking any said lessons or fittings, so stick with us as we work through the back log. It has been great to see many of you again, Darryl feels the same too. Note the draw sheet is full and we will do the draw soon so look out for the results. Also the Srixon bag draw from before the lockdown is now open again, those of you who have already entered are still on the list! It looks likely we will see competitive golf back on Saturday's very shortly. I don't have full details but it seems likely to be a series of Stablefords with the cups being abandoned this season, but as ever I will communicate this more expansively when I get the exact details. Well that's it for this week, as said keep the faith and I for one am in a very positive mood, let's get you there too! Stay safe and enjoy this week's read...
