Well hello to all readers in this most difficult time, and Darryl and I send our best wishes to anyone affected directly or by lockdown only with this Pandemic. Note should you wish any help if you are isolated and have no one to turn to, we are happy to fetch and carry for as many as we possibly can. Darryl has a putting challenge to keep our competitive juices flowing and to keep our great golf community, both within our own club and further afield united during lockdown. See below, I have tried to spell check it as best I can, not his greatest asset is the spelling guys! I look forward to soon being able to cheer my beloved Baggies on again, dreaming of promotion, as so many of you who support other teams are. It is great to feel something so unimportant so stirs the soul. Well keep safe, keep doing the hand washing and social distancing, we must all help our great NHS to cope in the coming weeks. Cheers Paul.
Darryl’s challenge Hope everyone is ok and coping in this difficult time. As we are staying home at the moment I wanted to give us a little challenge/ competition that anyone can enter. All it requires is a putter, 1 ball and a mug. The competition is a league format that goes into a knockout stage, it’s a bit of fun but will hopefully benefit your game at the end of the lock down. The idea is that the final will be at the club once we open up again. The competition is simple you hit 10 putts from 6ft away in your house and however many times you hit the mug will be your score. You can practise as much as you like but then say you are starting your ten at some point and then record the score. Be honest it doesn’t matter if you score 0 as its just for fun and the person you’re playing may do that as well. Depending on how many people enter will depend on how many people are in a league then the top so many (depending on entries) will go through to the knockout stages. Once all entries are in I will then draw the fixtures and send them out. One of your fixtures will be played each day so you only need to send me one result per day and then it gives you the opportunity to practise the rest of the time. Your score for the day must be sent to me by 8pm each day. If you want to enter please send me your name, handicap, age and mobile number if you have one. You can send me your results via text or email. I will then publish the results of each fixture the following day. Anyone can enter it so if anybody’s partners or children want to join in they can, the more the merrier. In short, hit ten putts at a mug from 6ft away, count how many hit it and then send me the score before 8pm and I will sort the rest Lol. You can send me any videos through of you doing it and I will upload them online. We want all entries in by Monday 30th at 8pm via email. Feel free to forward this to anyone you know. Stay safe. Best Regards, Darryl.
