Welcome to another edition of our newsletter. We hope you’re having a great week both on and off the course. Enjoy the read.

A word from the Pro
Well things are moving quickly now in regards o the studio additions. The putting mat is down (will need levelling as it has a tricky left to right break currently), the new projector is installed, and both the touch screen and SAM putting monitor are paid for and on the way!
I’m not quite bankrupt courtesy of The Dazzler yet, and hopefully the extra use of the studio will justify the expense! We will keep you posted as to when the putting technology is up and running - look out for an early deal on putting lessons from The Dazzler too!
Course wise the drier conditions and wind have helped the greens boys start to get on top of the pre season work, see part of the course report set out below.

Sports Update
Sport wise, England’s rugby team got blown away by a much improved French side on Sunday, and we seem to have a World Cup hangover right now.
In the Football, my boys got back to winning ways to go back top in The Championship, Grimsby had an entertaining draw at home, and even the most pessimistic Liverpool fans must now believe they are on track for a first Premiership title. I believe this will put them within one top-flight title of Man United!
Golf wise it was a great comeback win for Graeme Mcdowell in Saudi Arabia to claim his first European Tour title in nearly 6 years, and Webb Simpson beat Tony Finau in a play-off in the States. The coronavirus put paid to The LPGA event in China.

On Saturday 15th February we are holding a Shotgun Am-Am here at Cleethorpes GC. The cost is £40 per team of four, which is payable upon entry in the Pro Shop. This includes a Bun and Coffee after play.
Your hole will be allocated at the time of entry and play will start at 8am prompt, meaning that the course will re-open for non-competitors at around midday. |
Fixtures
The revamped 2020 fixture books are now printed and available for collection. There are copies in the corridor outside the men’s changing rooms and on a table below the social board in the spike bar.
Please note that the Club Rules, which have previously been printed in the book are not included. They can be found in a few places: on the noticeboard outside the office, on the website and from the Club V1 app under ‘Club Docs’ and ‘All’.

Conditions continue to improve
The dry weather, coupled with the wind, continues to help the course conditions improve, and we have remained on full greens all week with no restrictions on trolleys or buggies. The bunkers have been raked, and while some still need a bit of work on them, they are in play, unless marked by a GUR sign.
White lines and ropes are still in use and it would be appreciated if these could be followed at all times in an effort to protect the course long term. Unfortunately, I saw several members not observe the ropes on Saturday, so I would just like to reiterate that they are there to help us all have a good course in the summer, the old saying that you seem to follow the rules when it suits seems to apply here!

Well short and sweet this week as I catch up on admin duties, hope to see you all down at the club in the coming weeks.
Cheers, Paul |
Already this year we've seen the release of new drivers and irons (nothing unusual in that), but now we have something else to show you and we're excited to say they'll be arriving with us soon! |
| Srixon Q-Star Tour golf balls
|
|
Many of you will be big fans of the AD333 ball from Srixon, which has been a mainstay in its range since 2003 - albeit, being improved upon every couple of years.
|
Well, sitting alongside it for 2020 is the Q-Star Tour, which delivers tour-level spin and distance but in a remarkably soft cover - whilst being at a brilliant price point too! |
