Give yourself a pat on the back! Well another busy week at the club, with some much needed rain bringing some freshness back to the course. Mind you, whilst Town’s match was being abandoned with a water logged pitch last Tuesday, the course only got three milometers of rain! This Saturday sees the Charity day taking place, there are still a few spaces left so ring the shop if you would like to play. The week after sees a full calendar of events to celebrate our 125th year anniversary. The club has thrived in this period, and indeed continues to be well run during a difficult period for golf in general. I always admire the volunteers in any golf environment who do so much unpaid work to keep things going, so to all our volunteers at Cleethorpes give yourselves a big pat on the back! If you want to play in any of the events then see the office for details.

Shop wise, August was a little quieter than previous months, but we have remained active in all areas. The shop looks great, and the autumn stock is now arriving with FootJoy, PING and Under Armour recently in. With Pro Quip coming soon and with Green Lamb due in for the ladies, it is a good time to think about spending those winner’s vouchers due out to you in October. Also with a new Mizuno iron just gone into the Studio, it is a good time for a fitting as well. Should you need any coaching requirements, then this year’s winter packages start on October 1st with 10 lessons for £115, all to be completed by March 31st 2020. For the ladies, the short game clinic is back on this Tuesday 3-4pm at £5 per pupil on a roll up basis. I am also aiming to do a winter roll up short game clinic on a Saturday starting in October. Click here to express an interest in any of our fitting or coaching opportunities. |

Well done to Darryl for leading a Cleethorpes team of Ann Poultney, Dick Easton and Jack Ellis to joint second at Gainsborough in The Pin Invitational pro-am. Darryl also finished joint third in the professional section. He is now a Paulite after a couple of sessions with my good self to get his swing back on track!! Also is he not gripping that hairdryer slightly weak? |
Sport wise, there was not any Premiership talk last week as Darryl was in the chair for the content and was so embarrassed by Spurs losing to Newcastle. He faired a little better this week with a 2-2 draw against Arsenal, what a good game by the way. However I can’t see much past Man City or Liverpool right now for the top two spots. My boys won 3-2, and a great win for Town. Viv Thomas’s Swansea lead the way right now in my league. As you read this the Ashes will be back on, let’s hope a few of Ben Stokes’s batting buddies take a leaf out of his book! Golf wise, Sebastian Soderburg won a 5 way play off which included Rory Mcllroy to win The European Masters.

The Pawson Cup Our own golfing events saw a windy day for the 123 who played in The Pawson Cup on Saturday. Well played and about time, to Tom Stevens for a fine 64 to win, with Chris Wells second on 68. Rick Gilleat’s better back nine 69 saw him take third spot from Paul Gibbons. A fine 71 saw in form PJ Riley take the gross prize.
Junior Club Championship Well done to Dillon Welford, the new Junior Club champion and also the nett Cup winner, Jack Ellis. They can be seen pictured with Lady Captain Ann and other participants.

Revealed: Our favourite trolleys of 2019 |
Push trolley or electric trolley? Do you have a preference or have you not really thought about it that much? We have both covered as we reveal the best trolleys money can buy in 2019, and both of these winners are available through your very own pro shop. |
| Push to pass - Motocaddy Z1 Happy to go around under your own power? Then you can’t go wrong with Motocaddy’s Z1 push trolley. The Z1 is our top pick when it comes to value and practicality from a push trolley, not just because its lightweight nature is a joy to handle around the course, but also because the easy-to-fold two-step system makes it quick and easy to transport.
|
| Go electric - Motocaddy S1 Want to take a load off and let the trolley do the bulk of the work? Then there are none better than Motocaddy’s electric S1. A whisper-quiet 200W motor provides ample power throughout your round, allowing you to stay fresh for the back nine. Its stunning high-resolution LCD display has been updated for 2019 and keeps you ‘up to speed’ with battery life and speed settings.
