What a weekend of sport! Firstly a great week down at the club, culminating in Captain’s weekend with the good weather and the course playing well. Captain Richard had a great weekend, and Lady Captain Ann had a great day on Wednesday for her Captain’s Day. Both have put a great shift in to make their year successful. Sunday also saw perhaps the greatest cricket match in history to see England crowned World Champions. We managed to see the super overs in between the presentation and meal, making for an exciting end to the day! One note, and in this case it may have been cricket related, but the ladies who won a prize the mixed or Am/Am were there to get their prizes, and very few guys came back to get theirs. This is an increasing trend, and a slap in the face quite simply to all the volunteers who help so much to run these days. Sort yourselves out boys and start checking whether you are in the prizes and then make an effort to return please! There were many thanks that Richard made on Sunday to all who helped, I particularly want to single out Phil Welby who sorted all the cards and winners out! Also there was a great tennis match at the weekend and Hamilton winning a record 6th British Grand Prix, so we were spoilt for choice. Some great golf was played over the weekend in Scotland with Bernd Wiesberger winning. A great note was to see Beef Johnston return to form and secure a place at Portrush! Speaking of Portrush, it looks great course and Northern Ireland seem very excited to have The Open return. Don’t forget our Open week Mega Sale, where The Dazzler has even reduced the chocolate! I am sure he is trying to bankrupt me so get in and nab a bargain.
