A tough week on the course… Well a difficult week for the course with heavy rain and strong winds, but what a great job the greens guys did to make sure play was possible for two big days. Wednesday saw 80 lady members and guests play in an Am-Am, and Friday saw 24 teams take part in the Artie White Charity Day (see below for the results). Suffice to say the greens were slower than the Pro-Am, and all the bunkers were GUR due to flooding. Mind you the bunkers were back in play for the Chamber of Trade on Saturday which saw difficult windy conditions again. Well done to Peter Younger in winning on +3, with Geoff Newson second on a better back nine +2 from Matty Hancock and Jay Kirkham fourth on +1. Honourable mentions for Chris Wigg and Dave Hannay who were also on +1, but missed out on the winners spots. Peter is a confirmed Darrylite and deserves his success on the back of an intensive lesson and practice programme! A good showing by the Brits, a shame Justin Rose faded on the last day, albeit finishing third. Canadian Brooke Henderson won on The LPGA tour. Sport wise, a good win for England vs The Windies in The Cricket World Cup. Mind you the passion between India and Pakistan in the same event made for riveting viewing. In the Ladies Football World Cup, England have already made it to the knockout stages. Well we hope to see many of you down at the club, the weather generally looks much better going forward!
