A busy week at Cleethorpes... Its been a busy week again, although I did take Saturday and Sunday off to visit my very dear friend Chris Hancock and his wife Elaine in Spalding. Chris for those of you who know him is doing fantastic after his heart transplant in 2015, walking the dog over 6 miles on Saturday. mind you there was the incentive of the pub at the end of the walk!!
Monday sees me catching up with the admin, and taking the entries for the Mixed Peckett Cup in between typing. With the Pro-Am looming I am trying to get some practise in to the attempt to break 80 for the first time in a few years. I have been playing and scoring okay, but, as many of you know, the pressure of trying to achieve in this game creates strange demons!
Darryl was kept busy over the weekend whilst I was away, with a busy Croft Baker qualifier on Saturday and then a big Lincs Junior event on the Sunday. As ever my thanks for his hard work, and his sunny disposition, creating a great buzz in the shop. With his great use of the technology we have available for coaching and fittings, it is great that you now often bypass me in the fitting processes. Also great is the increased use of him by the low handicap golfers for their lesson time. Darryl has also made a massive difference in our Junior programmes, delivering a minimum of five junior classes per week, and helping to massively increase our junior membership. Golf is a great game to get your youngsters into to get them off the play station, but also to help them with social skills. Remember I have two short game clinics running, both on Tuesdays. Ladies group is 3 till 4 and mixed group is 6 till 7. Please ring to let me know you are coming on either so I can control numbers, and I will put extra classes on if the numbers get too big!!
Lesson tariff - Adult - £23 per half hour or 7 lesson block for £115
- Junior (under 16) - £15 per half hour or 7 lesson block for £75
- Junior roll up classes are all £3 per hour - Girls Thursday 5 till 6, mixed Thursday 6 till 7, mixed Saturday 10 till 11 and mixed Sunday 2 till 3.
Click here for any lesson or fitting requirements. Darryl is now getting nervous about the Champions League final, and I bet the many Spurs and Liverpool fans are too. Let’s hope for a great game for us neutrals. Well done to Man City for their previous Cup win by the way.
The big upcoming sports event is The Cricket World Cup and unusually England start favourites. Will this create a burden though for them?
Golf wise, a great first win on The LPGA for England’s Bronte Law in Virginia. Kevin Na won The Charles Schwab in Texas, with Tryell Hatton and Russell Knox both in the top 10. In Denmark, Austrian Bernd Wiesberger edged out Scott Robert Macintyre to take this week’s European event. This week both the Am-Am (mixed board) and The Captain’s Day (main men’s board) lists will go up. please support these events, they are great days.
It will also not be long before we start taking entries for the Men’s Invitation Day, again a great day where we encourage your support.
