The season is flying by… I can’t believe a week has gone by already, this season seems to be hurtling along at a very fast pace. I’m back in the typing seat this week so there will be no Spurs drivel, but with Albion losing to Villa in the play offs, I shouldn’t be talking footy! Perhaps not a bad thing as I don’t think we are ready for a Premiership return. Mind you there are now a few Forest fans rooting for Villa as they don’t want Derby to go up. Well done to Man City for a fine Cup win, too far for your boys I’m afraid Mr Lacey. Course wise we are shaping up nicely, but after some heavy rain, we already need more as it is drying out quickly again. With several societies here recently, it has been good to hear such positive comments about the condition of the course, well done to Steve and the boys. Also well done to Janine and her gang for the ongoing excellence of the catering too. Shop wise we remain busy, Darryl with fittings, junior coaching and his regular coaching too. I’m also busy with my own coaching and the ever demanding marketing/admin our job now regularly throws up. Lesson tariff - Adult - £23 per half hour or 7 lesson block for £115

With the Pro-Am looming, I am trying to play a bit more to hopefully score a bit better this year. To any teams that normally play that I have not contacted, my apologies in not doing so. The problem has been that Midland PGA have invoked a stupid rule limiting me to only 10% out of county pros, so our field will be 26 strong as opposed to 44 last year. No one can explain to me why this rule is in place, so very frustrating to say the least! Hopefully we can see a change next year and get the event back to a bigger one, I am gutted and angry as I have worked my butt off to make this a great event over the years, however no use crying over spilt milk. Well done to Brooks Koepka for a fine USPGA win, retaining his title. Mid you he had a scare with Dustin Johnson closing the gap to two. Notable that the brutal rough was best tamed by the two biggest hitters, sometimes reducing a 500 yard par 4 to drive/wedge! A great joint third place for Englishman Matt Wallace.
