Well plenty going on this week to talk about...
Firstly we saw Judith Gorman finish her year as Lady Captain and hand the reins over to Ann Lambert, with Chris Reid becoming her Vice Captain.
We then had the club AGM on Thursday, with a fairly smooth evening I believe!!!
This was followed by an excellent men’s Dinner on Friday, with a superb meal and after dinner speaker in Paul Boardman (Dad Stan if any of you remember him from his telly days).
Saturday saw a non-qualifier played as two holes were shut, and a creditable 41 played. Division one was won by Pete Tingle with a super 16 hole tally of 39 points, and in second place was Gareth Thomas with 35 points. Division two saw Mark Atkins on 34 points pip Chris Dunster by a point.
Sunday then saw the Gents outgoing Captain welcome new Captain Jim Arnell into the hot seat, with new Vice Captain being Dave Reid. This was followed by a new flag being raised to help celebrate 120 years as a club, with a nice run down of the club’s history from Liz Stones given to the pre Ladies v Gents crowd in the clubhouse.
The following match was won in the end 8.5 to 5.5 by the gents.
One point of note is me forgetting another hole in one last week. Well done to Mark Appleyard for his fine strike on the 8th!!!!!
The course has recovered well from the rain we have had in heavy bursts this last few weeks, and as I type away we are fully open. Look out for the backlash due from the Hurricane currently over the Atlantic though in the next few days. The lads are busy cutting still with the grass seemingly not able to stop growing right now. This has meant their winter programme duties are being done at a slightly slower pace than Rob would have liked to see, so bear with them to see the winter remedial work sorted.
A note from the clubhouse is the Tuesday mixed platter with drinks offer at £9.99 and the fish and chip offer at £6 per head on a Friday.
Shop wise Alex has been busy with FlightScope fittings. Note if you are looking to change drivers, fairways or irons we can still offer our £25 per 40 minute fitting indoors if the weather is bad. Also from November 1st I will be offering indoor FlightScope lessons for £20 per half hour through each weekday and on certain weekday evenings. Click here to find out more details.
We have just taken order of Tommy Hilfiger sweater Christmas boxes in Lambs wool and Merino wool. With prices from £50 these could be an ideal gift for the golfer and non golfer amongst you.
Also in is the S1 trolley at £299 and S3 at £399 (both with standard lead acid 18 hole batteries). Also call for prices with the lighter and longer lasting Lithium battery.
