Well generally good weather for the week, Saturday being a particularly fine day for golf. We had 5 mil of rain Sunday night so we currently have a few temporary greens, but with any luck the draining will open them up better and clear away some of that water. The greenkeepers have also done a sterling job on the bunkers for the first 6 holes, and I must say they are looking much better after their overhaul.
The good weather on Saturday saw 32 people enter the Medal with some great scoring. Division 1 was won by Andy Garton whose better back nine 68 beat Ash Fletcher and Ash Ryecroft on countback. Ash Fletcher however had the best gross. Division 2 saw Mike Hoyle take top spot with a 69 nett.

Saturday 8th March Winter League Round 5 - Format Betterball Medal 20 limit, ¾ allowance (Just for you Goose!)
Sunday saw Man City take the first trophy of the season, but plaudits to Sunderland who gave them a good game. Arsenal came a cropper at Stoke allowing Liverpool and Chelsea more breathing space at the top. My boys didn't play and meet Man United next Saturday.
I had a great day out on Saturday as a pupil and friend Steve Joyce took me to watch The Mariners who won 2-0. The first and last 10 minutes of the game showed they can pay football, but it was a little turgid in between! I then met up for a few beers and a curry with Rob and Alex from the shop. We bashed some great ideas about for the future of the shop, and I must say young Alex is definitely helping bring the old two dinosaurs into the modern word a little more.
Well short and sweet this week. Don't forget any memorable golfing stories are always welcome to share via the newsletter or our Facebook page
