How do these weeks keep passing us by so quickly? It seems only a moment ago I was typing away for the last newsletter, and yet lots has happened within that time frame! Enjoy this week’s read!

Course update Firstly we have seen some significant rainfall, and this has seen the barren brown of our fairways and rough transform into a much greener hue. Mind you, I reckon there will need to be some scarifying and seeding on some areas of the course in the autumn. The work done on the greens was much helped by that rain, and it is great to be able to pass on comments from so many of you to the greens staff as to just how good you feel they are. They have also started the flailing of the heavy rough early, and I know you appreciate the great work they do.

A full teaching diary! I had a few days off whilst the grandkids and eldest daughter visited from Belfast. It was great to have good weather and see their enjoyment of our beach and seafront facilities, which we perhaps sometimes don’t appreciate. In between grandchild duties, I remained busy on the teaching front, and with Darryl busier than ever, we have seen a full diary! It has been great to see many category one players’ sign up with Darryl, showing real trust in the ‘new boy’!

Amazing scoring in the Stableford The First Team could not repeat last year’s heroics and lost in the North Region Lincs final to a resurgent Market Rasen team on Sunday at Grimsby. Many of the first teamers must have golfed themselves out on Saturday in the Stableford as the scoring in Division one was amazing! Jazza topping the bill with 41 points from PJ, Andy Mac, Matty B and Bodge, all on 38. Division two saw Paulite Sean Cook’s better back nine 34 points edge Richard Lightowler and Paul Croft out. Division three saw Darren Shelton’s 37 points edge out another Paulite, Charles roebuck on 36 points. There were only three twos, netting £26.50 for Jazza, Daz Fuller and Charles Roebuck. This Saturday’s Charity day is now full and we look forward to a great day again!

Sport update The baggies lost on Friday to Middlesbrough and didn’t look great, whilst The Mariners also lost. Leeds look a good team right now, whilst Forest keep drawing, but Sheff Wednesday had a good win. Premiership wise, a great point for Wolves against Man City, and three from three see Liverpool, Chelsea and Martin Lacey’s Watford sit at the top. Wins too for Fulham, Arsenal and Leicester! Golf wise, Bryson DeChambeau won in New Jersey, whilst Padraig Harrington just lost out to new winner Andrea Paven in The Czech Masters.

The season is coming to a close and that means it's more important than ever to work hard on the parts of your game that are letting you down. Maybe you aren't getting enough distance on your drives or perhaps your chipping simply isn't up to scratch - either way, we're here to help. |
Lessons and coaching If you find yourself making poor decisions time and time again, why not book yourself in for a playing lesson so that we can help you to think your way to a better score? Alternatively, come and speak to us about a long-term plan - we offer various lesson packages which we can tailor to suit your needs.

Have you been custom fitted? Custom fitting is particularly helpful and it's not just for low handicappers either - the more you struggle with distance and accuracy, the more there is to gain from playing with clubs that are tailored to your swing. We stock several brands in-store, each with a model in their line-up to suit mid to high handicappers, so come and challenge us to improve your game - we're certain we can.
