Captain's weekend Well what a great week of weather we have just had again, culminating in a brilliant Captain’s weekend. Great thanks to Dave Colvin for his great generosity, with help from many quarters to make a successful day. These include the Ladies at the half way house, Phil Welby and Glenn Wishart on card duty, the greenstaff for the excellent state of the course and Janine and co for the great food. Darryl enjoyed his first Captain’s Day with us, stating how well run and relaxed it all seems to be! He has now gone off for a well-earned week away, with a trip to the quiet part of Ibiza (so he says, but perhaps true as the quiff would never survive a foam party!) Click here to view the results. |
Book yourself in for a fitting Shop wise as you may guess it has been crazy for drinks, shorts and caps with the brilliant weather. The entry list is on the main notice board in the foyer. Secondly, we still need more players for Invitation Day on Saturday 4th August, £16 per pair payable upon entry in the shop.
Finally, Charity Day is on Saturday 1st September, again payable in the shop with entry, £10 per member and £20 per non-member.

This week's sport Well England’s footballers did not make it to the final, and although gutted personally, it paved the way for a smooth Captain’s Day, which Dave mentioned in his speech! I don’t think we would have got near to France in the final, and losing to Belgium just shows we have a way to go despite new hope for the future. The cricket team played well to level the one day series against India though.
Golf wise Brandon Stone won The Scottish Open at Gullane, just missing out on a 59 in the process with Eddie Pepperell coming in second place. Laura Davies won her first U.S. Seniors Women’s Open, whilst Michael Kim dominated The John Deere in Illinois.

If you haven’t used a push trolley for a while then it’s definitely worth trying one in the not too distant future. In years gone by they were made of metal and were heavy to use, but that couldn’t be further from the truth with today’s lightweight options. |
Nice and easy This BIG MAX IQ+ 360 push trolley is a great option and tips the scales at just 6.3kg, which makes it easy to push so you remain full of energy to the last hole. As well as its lightweight frame, it boasts a 360-degree front wheel so you can steer it to any spot effortlessly (watch our video to see for yourself), plus a handbrake and a spacious console that has room for all of your valuables and accessories. This is just one of the trolley options we offer, so if you’re looking for something with more features or that folds smaller, why not pop by the store and check out our whole range? |
