The lessons are really paying off
I am on my own this week as Darryl is on a well-earned week off after his flying start to his tenure with us. It has been great to hear the positive comments from all of you about his impact with us, and his knowledge of club components and computer technical difficulties are a real boost to my good self.
Weather wise it has been changeable, but the greens boys are on top of the course right now, aided by a fifth pair of hands for the summer season. Shop wise it is a busy time and with club fittings aplenty, both Darryl and myself are keeping really busy. The lesson diary is busy too right now and it is pleasing to see several of our pupils in the top places from the weekend, notably Mally Cox who won The Chamber of Trade with plus 4, followed by Russ Swan with plus 3. Both have had lessons with my good self of late, so the challenge now for Darryl is to get one of his many fast-improving students to top the list in the near future. Mizuno is performing well in fittings, both in iron and surprisingly wood fits. If you are interested in seeing how the latest equipment can benefit you then book your very own test. PING as ever continues to do well, and with TaylorMade in the mix there is a great selection to choose from. Call us on 01472 816110, ext 1 or click here to book your fitting. Be sure to look out for the upcoming putter fit offer as we have a great selection of top class putters to try.
I hope you all have a great week, pop in to solve any golfing issues and we look forward to seeing you all down at the club. Don’t forget those excellent Sunday lunches are available from Janine and her gang. Cheers Paul

How’s your game holding up?
If your golf game hasn’t got off to a great start this year, it’s time to do something about it. Going out on the golf course week after week and doing the same things will rarely lead to success and, if anything, will result in you getting frustrated. We have years of experience and the expert knowledge to help you with every part of your game, and with more competitions on the horizon, including some major board events, now is a great time to consider some lessons or upgrading your equipment. We are currently running our Complete Equipment Solution promotion where we are offering to custom fit you for FREE and give you a FREE after-sales lesson once your new clubs arrive. However, this will only last until the end of the month so don't delay it any longer. Click here to learn more. |

Is your short game letting you down?
Last Thursday Darryl hosted a three-hour short game clinic which was attended by four members. The feedback he received was excellent and we hope to see many of you at the next one. Please keep an eye for details in the weeks to come. We will be hosting a mixed roll up short game clinic on Tuesday evening at 6pm. This will be £5 per person.

Keeping you up to date It was great to see Sophie get into the US Open, a good first round saw her well placed, alas her second round was not quite as good and she missed the cut. Still a wonderful achievement to be there Sophie. The event was won by Arya Jutanugarn on the 4th playoff against Hyo Joo Kim who had a fantastic final day to set up an exciting finish. Bryson Dechambeau won the Memorial tournament on the PGA Tour this week in Ohio, also in a playoff, with Justin Rose finishing sixth. Thorbjorn Oleson pipped local favourite Francesco Molinari to the Italian Open title, with five English players in the top 10. Notably one was Danny Willett showing a return to form. Other sports news saw England’s footballers look really good at times in their win in the friendly against Nigeria, whilst the cricket team actually won a test match for the first time in a long while.

We’re sure the majority of you will agree that having a distance device on the course is a huge benefit, going hand-in-hand with knowing how far you hit each club. For those of you in the market for a laser rangefinder or GPS device, here are a few options within Garmin’s range to suit different preferences. |
Pinpoint laser accuracy There's one standout feature to Garmin's Z80 laser rangefinder that sets it apart from all others on the market. As well as giving precise distances up to 350 yards away, the Z80 also includes hole maps that are integrated into the viewfinder, which display the shape of the hole and provide front and back distances when you lock on to the flag. |
|
Information at a glance If you prefer wearable technology, Garmin has both GPS watches and bands to suit all styles. The Approach S60 watch, seen here on the left, boasts colour hole maps, hazard information and offers front, middle and back yardages. The other, the Approach X40 band, is a slim, lightweight and waterproof wristband that gives you distances to the green and to hazards, as well as heart rate and activity tracking. |
