Cleethorpes Pro-Am

The Pro-Am was Friday just gone and what a great turn out. Paul and Ray Crome did fantastic to get 44 teams which I would believe will be one of the highest entered events this season in the county and that’s down to both of their hard work and effort. Steve Beverly and his team did a fantastic effort in preparing the course to an absolute superb standard, everyone was commenting on a job well done.

The day ran really smoothly apart from the horrible rain we had for the first two and half hours of play. This made scoring really difficult for the early starters which showed in the final results as nearly all the prize winners were from players who played once the bulk of the rain had passed. The results were:

Pro’s Individual

1st - Paul Streeter = 66
T2nd - Nigel Pearce = 67
T2nd - Dan Greenwood = 67
T2nd - Adam Keogh = 67
T5th - Jason Proctor = 68
T5th - Sophie Walker = 68

Croft Baker

Saturday saw the Croft Baker being played with Andrew Burgess winning the medal round with a better back nine 68 from Graham Rickman.

Captains AM/AM

Sunday saw the Captains AM/ AM take place, see the results sheet for the winners.

Hyundai Medal competition

The Ladies played in the Hyundai medal competition on Wednesday, kindly sponsored each year by Mike Read of Read Hyundai. In challenging wind conditions and with a fantastic nett 69 was Elaine Blastland, in second place Gwen Farmery nett 75 and third Chris Holden with nett 77.

Peckett Cup

Following a busy golfing weekend, the Peckett Cup (foursomes medal) was played for on Bank holiday Monday.

With a smaller field then usual of 10 pairs, winning the cup for the third year running was Dave & Chris Reid with a nett 68.5, in second place was David & Louise Emberson with a nett 74.

In other golfing news it was a good win for both Justin Rose and Francesco Molinari who held off a slightly below par McIlroy.

Now for all you Liverpool fans out there, I feel so sorry for you, being a spurs fan I am use to the disappointment of losing a crucial game but the way you conceded the goals, unbelievable! You had the good (or shall we say superb) from Bale’s first (we made him the players he is today). The bad from Bale’s second and the ugly from Benzema’s goal! That will probably haunt Karius for the rest of his life.
