Well the World Cup is over and from the little I saw after we got knocked out, the best team won. Organised, fit, skillful and, most importantly, fresh compared to our lot. My big moan is how little we seem to be able to control the ball when we play, thus giving it back to the opposition too easily. A note for all you Albion followers (haha!) we have made 4 signings, all defenders. Is it going to be a defensive orientated style of play?? We need a striker badly me thinks to survive again!!! A record 10 wicket stand by Jimmy Anderson and Joe Root saved a turgid test match at Trent Bridge. Why, oh why, do we not create pitches to suit ourselves I ask??
Golf wise our girls, Sophie and Holly, could not quite make the cut despite, I understand, a huge contingent of Cleethorpes support. Mo Martin won by one shot from Chinese player Shanshan Feng and also Suzann Petterson. It was also great to see Laura Davies get into the top twn.
Our own golf course saw some great golf too over the weekend. Paul Ferrand shot a fine 65 to win the Centenary Cup on Saturday. Tony Diable finished second with 67 and Dave Bell won on an exact handicap 68 from James Hibbitt. Martin Warren again showed his class winning best gross with a 69. Notable mentions to the 68’s who missed out on the exact handicap ruling for Mark Sutherland, Leigh Davey, Mick Webber, Paul Bonner and Murray Watt.
Sunday saw the Junior Open. Firstly well done to Bill and Judy for getting an entry of 29, all the more remarkable when you see so few clubs able to get their own event off the ground these days. The winning gross and nett titles went away from home to J. Morley and L. Andrew. Best of the home scores was by Adam Lawis whose nett 65 got him second place.

Wednesday 9 July, 2014 - Bunnies Cup + E.W.G.A.
The 'Bunny competitors' experienced very testing weather conditions this year with an extremely strong wind challenging all shots, even the putts, but the experience of the winner paid off with an excellent win for 1. Janet Todd, 2. Chris Holden and 3. Chris Sherburn
Results of the E.W.G.A. to be announced next week.

Shop wise we are now eagerly awaiting the G30 woods. We already have the demo irons in for you to look at, and I have been promised delivery of the Titleist demo kit this Monday as I prepare this week’s content. Let’s hope it does come as have had to push the rep to sort!!!!! We now have the IQ Big Max push trolleys in store too. These are so easy to push and at £179 they take the headache of battery problems out of the equation. That said the Motocaddy 18 hole Lithium battery deal at £199 with a trade in of £25 for an old battery has been extended in store, and as they are so light and also have the extendable warranty they do make motorised trolleying easier.
Upcoming events to mention are the Championship Day on 27th July, firstly with the entry sheet on the main board. Secondly we have the second Invitation Day list in the shop and there are plenty of spaces so please pop in to enter, £15 payment with entry.
Well once again I look forward to seeing you all through the week. I am off Thursday and Friday for a short break and am going to Manchester for Thursday night as Michelle is working that side this week. Rob has just had three days in The Lakes and had glorious sunshine whilst we had muchos raino!!! Testament to the drainage that any heavy downpour has soaked through very quickly and also a mention of how good the course has been this year too.
Have a great week, Open begins today, who are you betting on?? I am going for back to back British Isles wins by Justin Rose!!!
Cheers Paul
