Well a quiet week playing wise this week as Steve and his fellow green keepers were hard at work on the mid-season course maintenance where all the greens saw tining, top dressing and slit seeding. This meant for most of the week the greens were on temporary’s and so we had no competitive play all week. The plus is that by doing the work early the seeding has an extra month to germinate.

Lesson update

I continue to be delighted with the work I am doing in the studio with many of you. It is great to hear the feedback, Shaun Louis was very pleased on Saturday and could see from the figures how good he was swinging it. Both the recently done putting clinic and upcoming short game clinic sessions are full I am delighted to say. With this in mind I will be adding more into the diary so keep your eye open for these dates if this is an area you feel you can improve!

Competitions

Spaces are getting low for the charity day on Saturday 2nd September. Entry with money is in the shop, £10 for a member and £20 a non-member.

Sport update

Outside of the club in golf, Team USA easily beat Europe in The Solheim Cup, whilst Henrik Stenson won for the first time since his Open win to take The Wyndham Classic in the States.

Sport wise a great win for my boys that gives them 6 points early in the season. Chelsea came back well after the first week defeat to beat Spurs, whilst Man United seem to look the real deal. Grimsby looked poor and it could be a long season for them. Also cricket wise England easily overcame a very poor Windies side, but notable that Stuart Broad passed Botham on England’s all time wicket taking list!

Academy membership

Well fairly short and sweet this week, just to say hope to see you all down at the club, don’t forget to get family and friends involved in the game we love, and with the Club’s ongoing Academy membership at £250 for 6 months with lessons included they can get a real feel for both the game and our great club with minimal initial outlay. Any interested parties pop in for a chat.

One sad piece of news is the closure of The Chronicle, an independent paper dedicated to our local area. Our thanks to Nigel Lowther and his team as they were a true friend to the club.
