Well what a great week we have seen at the club, with the Pro-Am again being a great success on Friday. Winning Pro was Dan Greenwood with 66, finishing 5 5 as well on 17 and 18. Winning team was local boys Nigel Leach and Johnny Cox, along with Lee Bracey and Immingham Pro Darryl Frame. Rob had a very creditable 75 on his comeback after the second hip operation to be ‘Top Dog’ (his words!) in the shop. One notable achievement was Paul Bradshaw holing in one on the 3rd during his joint second placed 67 alongside Darryl’s 67. Alex had a decent 76, but I had a poor day on the course with an 87. Only plus is I finished with four fours, and as I always tell my pupils you must never give up.
We had a record 44 teams and there are a good few thank you's to publicly make so here goes, if in this list I miss anybody out my apologies:
Firstly to Ray Crome for securing 9 team entries along with many sponsors. This eases the financial pressure a day like this brings and allows a great amateur and professional prize purse. Secondly to Pam Welby for organising the half way house and to all the Ladies who manned this station on the day. Next to Janine for keeping everyone well fed and in Robin’s case especially very well watered. Also thanks to Matt who was in charge of the greenstaff in the run up whilst Rob Welford was recuperating from a recent operation. The course was in great order and all the Pros made a great point to mention this. Thanks to Martin Blades at Bring Cargo for his continued support of the day. Special thanks to Bryon Miller, Ash Fletcher and Chris Wigg who stepped in to play within 20 minutes when a team didn’t show. As the Pro had come from Sheffield it would have been terrible for him not to get a game!!! Lastly a big thank you to all the members who played, your support is most appreciated. The PGA desk man Julian, who also did a great job, says this has the best atmosphere of all the days.

Saturday 14 June 2014 - Williamson Cup
Well done to young Cameron Tuck who won the Williamson Cup on Saturday with a fine 83-18 = nett 65. Mark Stanham had a better exact score of 78 - 12 = nett 66 to take 2nd place from Mark Fuller with 86 - 20 = nett 66 also. Best gross went to Ash Fletcher with a great 69 to get down to one handicap in the process.
Also well done to Daz Fuller (pic, below left) on his hole in one on the 8th hole in the match against Waltham on Thursday evening. Well done Daz!
Friday 13 June 2014 - Ladies v Senior Men
The annual match between the Ladies and the Senior Men is always a challenge and this year proved to be no exception with a friendly half satisfying both sides. The ladies were treated to sandwiches and coffee in the Clubhouse afterwards.

Sunday 15 June 2014 - Coronation Foursomes
Some excellent team work from Jan Dann and Gwen Farmery placed them first in this competition with 36 stableford points. Jan and Gwen will now go forward to represent the Club in the next round to be played at York on Mon. 4 August, 2014.
Wednesday 18 June 2014 - Stephenson Cup & E.W.G.A
Cleethorpes ladies experienced some super slick greens today for the Stephenson Cup first presented to the club in 1966, as was shown in the scoring;
Jane Cannon, 100 - 22 = nett 78
Janet Todd 93 - 14 = nett 79
Chris Holden 99 - 19 = nett 80
The E.W.G.A. winners seemed to benefit from the speed of the greens and Alison Fletcher came 1. 81 - 9 = nett 72 and 2. Lady Captain, Judith Gorman with 90 - 17 = nett 73.
The League team had a tremendous win away over Market Rasen on Tues. beating them 2 1/2 to 1 1/2. Well done ladies!
Football wise not much to say except England again looked lacking in any real class and so head home to much disappointment yet again. My one comment is that all the other teams seem able to control the ball so much better and quicker, and to me unless we sort this fundamental out at the top level it will mean we will always struggle.
The cricketers are involved in a good test series as I type, but now are blooding some new players to hopefully move forward once again. Lastly on other sports new Zealand battered England in the last Rugby test, but overall there have been some good signs for the future.
Shop wise we are keeping busy. Last week saw a bit of a back seat for lessons and fittings as The Pro-Am took up so much time, but this week sees a busier schedule. Don’t forget we now have FlightScope for fittings, this is an awesome piece of kit. Cost is £25 for a 40 minute fitting. Also note we have the demo kit for Titleist irons due to arrive shortly to compliment the existing brands in store. Note the Titleist wood range is due to change October, so we will be getting the demo kit in then.
Note Captain’s day list is up on the main board and is nearly full for the 6th July so if you want to play get your name on quick. Also due to open up is the second Invitation Day list, which again will be in the shop with a payment with entry rule.
Well looking forward to seeing you all in the week, the weather seems set fair, and with the course playing well it should be good fun out there. Have a great week, Paul
