Well, a week disrupted by some poor weather to say the least, but the sun is shining as I type away this Monday morning and it seems set fair on the long range forecast for the next 10 days.
Next Level Coaching
With last week being bad for outdoor teaching it showed how much an asset the recently finished studio is for continuity of coaching. I've enjoyed several lesson spells in there recently, and the use of the FlightScope technology to reinforce any swing changes certainly moves our coaching up to a new level. It's not too late to enjoy your first session in there at the opening offer of £10 for a half hour lesson (one per customer). You can follow this up with a three studio lesson deal for £50.

We also have a demo course in use which is great fun. Note once fully up and running we will be hiring the room out for play on bad days at £40 per four players for an hour!
Pro's Update
A disappointing end to The Baggies season, but safe for another year! Chelsea won well to have a fitting finale to the year, while Spurs oozed class in a 7-1 demolition against already relegated Hull. Liverpool won to grab that last Champion League spot and Man City continue to look good for next year!
In golf news, Billy Horschel beat Jason Day in a playoff at The Byron Nelson in Texas. On the European Tour, Alvaro Quiros also won in a playoff in Sicily against Zander Lombard, claiming his 7th European Tour win.
At the club it's a busy time with knockout matches and club matches being played and lots of visitors are enjoying the course right now too. With plenty of recently-joined members also playing, there's a real buzz about the place too!
I am trying to get my game back in some semblance of order and am playing regularly early morning. Indeed I was out there at 7am this Monday morning and played in shirt sleeves. If anyone fancies an early morning 9 holes starting between 6.30am-7am, give me shout. Just remember the clubhouse doesn't open till 7am.

Ladies brave the rain for Charity!
A fabulous turnout of 72 ladies braved the pouring rain on Wednesday afternoon to raise money for the Pink Rose Suite. They raised £836 in total which is excellent!. A team Am-Am was played but due to the exceptionally bad weather the competition had to be cut to 9 holes (as the greens flooded) hence the prizes were for 1st and 2nd on the two halves. All the ladies thoroughly enjoyed the day with delicious cakes at the halfway house - which turned out to be the end of the game - and a lovely meal provided by the Cleethorpes Golf Club caterers.
Below are the photos of the winners all pictured with Lady Captain, Susan Colvin.
Monthly Medal
Saturday saw a good turnout for the regular Monthly Medal and some excellent scoring. The winning score in division 1 was Joseph Victory's 70 - 3 = 67, taking it on countback from Louie Cockerill 73 - 6 = 67. In third was Daniel Houlton 74 - 5 = 69 taking it on countback from Martin Thompson 77 - 8 = 69. In division 2, Nigel Lee won with 82 - 13= 69 while David Campling 86- 15 = 71 came second and in third was David Cullum 84 - 13 = 71. In division 3, all with nett 69, but again on countback, Craig Gostelow won with Alan Williams second and in third Mike Webber.
Wally Metcalf Salver
The Senior members of Cleethorpes Golf Club turned out on a pleasant morning for a change to play for the Wally Metcalf Salver. The competition is drawn with high and low handicap players playing foursomes together. A maximum combined handicap of 9 meant there were some good scores as well as some strange scores as this can be a very difficult game to play. The runners up with 14 points were Roger Lockwood and Derek Holroyd. But the winners, with 16 points, were Derek Kennard and Steve (Budgie) Parrott.
Happy Birthday Geoff!
They say regular exercise is the secret to a long life. Well one member of Cleethorpes Golf Clubs Senior section can prove that. Geoff Hallam, who is 94 this week, is still an active regular playing member of the section.
Can you name this member camouflaged on a night out?!
