Well great weather as I type away this Monday morning, indeed a much better weather start to this season than last year.
Russell Henley got the last spot for the Masters by winning The Houston Open by three shots, but in The Ladies first Major poor young Lexi Thompson had a four shot penalty imposed for a wrongly marked ball in round three, and then lost the play off that followed to So Yeon Rye. Yet again golf shows it to be too complicated rules wise, and, as she gained no advantage was this penalty fair? Your thoughts on this guys and girls?

I myself saw golfing action over the weekend with a kind invite for a golfing 'Ryder cup' weekend organised at Woodhall Spa excellently by John Hudson. I didn't play at all well, but somehow managed to come away with two wins and a half, as the Europe team I was on beat the US team 15.5 to 14.5. Great fun mind you with an excellent set of lads. Back to the day job now though.
Saturday saw another added in qualifier Stableford and division 1 saw a great 40 points from Martin Lacey knock Jason Ellis into second on 38. Division 2 saw Craig Davidson win on a better back nine 39 points from recently returned to the fold Chris Wigg.
Men's Section
The season has started and the course is looking amazing and playing well too, there was a good turnout for the first stableford competition with the winner of Division 1 - Tony Diable recording 37 points, second was Chris Greenbeck with 36 points and third was Ian Dobson with 35 points. Division 2 winner was Shaun Mitchell with 38 points, second Tony Cox with 37 points and third was Kevin Louis with 35 points.
Senior Men's Section
55 members of Cleethorpes Senior Section braved cold and light mist conditions to play their Monthly Medal.
Garth Atkinson led the field in the Division One with 16 points just ahead of Phil Briggs who also had 16 points but lost out on count back so took runner position.
The Division Two was won by Eric Woolley who scored 13 points with John Crockart also with 13 points taking the runner up position.
The 14's group was won by Peter Oliver with a good 17 points.
Ladies Section
Wednesday saw blustery and showery conditions for our ladies playing the first English Golf Medal of the season.
Never a popular format meant reduced numbers but there 24 players.
Some good scores returned and two handicaps were reduced.

I am pleased with how I have taken to the fitting process on the Flightscope now
Micko has departed.
Remember for me the process is a dual one in as much as a fitting itself may not be the first part. If there are swing faults a change of shaft as an example may create a temporary cure, but that swing fault will usually get worse and then we see the player implode performance wise.
Often a change of set up is the first step to a better swing, and when this process is complete then the 'club solution' will follow.
Click the link to book and look out for our complete fitting solution which is being rolled out.
Studio wise the shell is done and we are now at the exciting stage of carpeting the inner tunnel with carpet tiles on the walls to kill miss hit shots. Slat-walling for the demo club area is ordered so we will see some big changes in the next two weeks or so.
Summer lesson deals are now open with the offer staying at 7 lessons for £100.
Click the link to book.
Adult beginner classes are also open to book and we would encourage you to let family and friends know to get them involved. This class will start on Saturday 8th April, 11.00 AM
For those with children or grandchildren remember we are still offering one free individual lesson to 5 to 15 year olds, with follow on PASSPORT TO GOLF classes in the dairy at £30 per 5 week course. Let's get those kids back in the fresh air!

Shop wise as said last week we have a very full shop, with a full array of equipment and demo clubs to help your golf. Also the clothing ranges from FootJoy, PING and Under Armour are proving popular.
Ongoing is the Vokey wedge deal of a free 15 minute demo session with a follow on two wedges for £220 and a free short game lesson. Also we have the free putting lesson with any new putter bought, and with Scotty's, PING and TaylorMade to choose from there is plenty of choice.
