Well a stop start first Invitation Day saw heavy rain suspend play for about an hour and a half midday time. Testament to the drainage that, once the rain stopped, we were able to get play back on within 20 minutes!
Despite the difficult conditions scoring was good, especially late on as the sun came out, and indeed we were able to sit on the benches outside to do the cards, whilst having a beer of course!! Well done to Baz Johnson and guest Paul Shaw whose better back nine saw off Steve Irving and his guest John Hood, both on 62. Happy 50th to Steve by the way!! Third place was taken by Jamie Richardson and Andy Auckland, fourth by fast improving Nick Bradsell and Olly Lea, with 5th and 6th Glenn Wishart with Mark Flemming and then Darren Gough and Darren Kittle respectively. Best gross saw Mark Sutherland with Steve Kellett see off Steve Brattan and Rob McKay into second.
Sunday saw a beautiful day for The Captain’s Am-Am and a good entry of 45 three balls. Top of the pile was a mixed team with Nanette Tuck combining with son Cameron and also Ash Fletcher to win with 79 points. Darren Gough, John Staples and Tony Miller had a better back nine 76 points from Boyd Mawer, Zak Mawer and Mark Godfrey to take second spot.
Shop wise the weather has not dented this busy time too badly, with FlightScope out a few times now on fittings. This is already proving a great tool and is seeing good feedback from those who have been on it. Fittings are £25 for a 40 minute session and don’t forget you can also do a ball fitting at £10 for a 20 minute session. Click here to book in.
The second shipment of PING Collection for the guys has now hit the shop, and the check trousers in particular are proving a hit. Please pop in for a browse when you are down.
Well the last England warm up match got hit by weather like our Invitation Day, but it can’t mask a fairly tame performance. We may yet be surprised by the team, especially as our expectations are low this time round.
Pro-Am - 20th June
Things are looking good with 43 teams down. Even if you are not playing why not pop to watch some play on the day as the likes of Paul Streeter and Dan Greenwood are superb players and well worth a walk round with.
Don’t forget Tony Diable’s Linkage Charity Golf Day on the 4th July, always a great event and always raising a lot of money for this worthwhile charity. If you want to play give me a shout and I will sort with Tony for you.
Also now on the board is the list for Captain’s Day on the 6th July. This is always a great day so get your name down.
