Hi everyone, Robin here. This is my first newsletter for a long time, feels really strange working on a Monday. Paul has been in Belfast to visit his eldest daughter and grandchildren. Hopefully he has had a great weekend and doesn't need a week off to recover from being run ragged by the grandkids!
What a great weekend of rugby we were treated to England simply blew Scotland away, young Murray Watt was my first and to date only Scottish victim of my gloating but rest assured he won't be the last! And what a game Wales and Ireland put on Friday evening, pure drama great committed rugby, I just wish the internationals went on all year but there would be a lot of broken bodies if it did.
As I write we have at last got a sunny day, the course has stood up really well after the relentless rain, let's hope spring has sprung and we get prolonged period of dry weather in the build up to the new season.
The new fixture books are out we have some in the shop, you can get hold of one from the office as well.
The club have come up with a great new membership offer, which gives a new member 12 months golf for £560.00 plus £100.00 of golf lessons, so try and introduce someone you know to the great game of golf.
Senior Ladies Section
Babs Swann played a blinder in the Senior Ladies competition on Monday to win. She scored 22 points over the 8 holes and was extremely pleased with her game.
Senior Men's Section
On 7th March it was a fine bright sunny morning with temperatures of 4deg to start with, raising into early teens as the morning went on saw 52 members of the Senior Section play a Reverse Waltz on the back 9 at Cleethorpes Golf Club.
Some good scores came in with 3 teams with 39 points taking joint runner up position but no goodies.
The winning team with 41 points consisted of Mike Ellis, John Slesser and Derek Whyte.
Men's Section -- No competition.
Ladies Section
Wednesday saw a very wet course after lots of overnight rain but a happy bunch of ladies went out to have fun. Playing a Waltz (teams of three with 1 to score one the first, 2 on the second and 3 on the third, 1 on fourth etc. ) in mixed divisions brought some whooping and hollowing as ladies chipped in, Betty Barrett, or sank long putts, Jo Gibbons.....
The final score was a magnificent 64 points from Jo Gibbons, Betty Barrett and Judy Garton.
Summer lesson pack offer is now available 7 lessons for £100.00, never forget you can have all the best equipment going, but if your swing is suspect you're in for a whole world of golfing pain, so often it's nothing more than getting the basic's right, a bad grip for instance has a huge effect on the flight of the ball.
It can be frustrating trying to make the changes that are needed, but if you stick at the long term benefit to your game is massive.
