A frustrating week as heavy rain closed the course Thursday, Friday and Saturday! Testament to the improved drainage is getting it back open on Sunday though. As I type away on Monday I am hoping we miss the band of heavy rain due this afternoon as the rest of the week looks dry right now.
Many of you will have seen the Facebook pictures of me strimming the ditch between 12 and 13 in the heavy rain Thursday. Even Pete Watts, assistant head greenkeeper, was impressed by my 6 hour stint at it, managing to completely strim both that ditch and the one by the 12th pond. Have a look as they look great now!
I am due for another course session in March, I really enjoy helping the guys bring those untidy areas up to scratch. Have you any areas you feel warrant attention of the Davies strim out?! Let me know.
With playing issues on Saturday we will extend the Winter League KO stages by a week, but please try to get your matches up to date if possible guys.
Shop wise we are well geared up now and as said last week I feel the shop is looking the best we have ever had it. With the quality Ladies and gents FootJoy clothing and shoes in, mixed in with our superb club range, we are ready to help set you up for the year.
Don't forget to book your Flightscope fittings, just remember we are out of commission right now in the studio area as Dave Smith and Nick Bradsell are in full change flow. The picture shows how we are creating this so far! Flightscope is portable so fittings can continue on any nice day outside.
Also ongoing is the VOKEY WEDGE DEAL of two for £220 with a free short game lesson, and with over 40 wedges in store we can tweak these on the loft and lie machine for immediate use.
We have also loads of great PING and SCOTTY putters on the shelf right now, and any putter bought comes with a free 20 minute putting tips session.
Well done to Ricky Fowler in winning in the US for the first time in a while, whilst Darren Fichardt won a shortened Joburg Open on The European Tour.
Also another trophy for Man United at the weekend, beating Southampton in the EFL Final. The Baggies beat Bournemouth to get to 40 points, whilst Chelsea stretched their lead at the top. Mind you Tottenham looked good! Grimsby Town suffered another loss sadly.
The rugby at the weekend saw Scotland play the best rugby to beat an offbeat Wales. Ireland too looked good, whilst England laboured against Italy with their strange non-contesting of the ball at the breakdown. Still a win is a win!
