Hi one and all, hope we find you all well this week. I will be very brief with regard to the football at the weekend mainly because those pesky neighbours of United's gave the reds a football lesson, hate to say it but they were worthy winners.
Pride of place on the results front this week must go to the victories Ladies team, after a very tense and no doubt nervy play off over 6 holes the ladies emerged as winners of the Lincolnshire league, what a great result, now we just need the men's A team to emulate the Ladies feat by winning the Lincolnshire north v south match.
The charity day was a very soggy affair with rain falling just about all day long which was a great shame. Even so the vast majority of the participants battled valiantly. The winners were messers Nik Bradsell, Richard Ladd, Matt Barber, and Andy Taylor, with a great score of 92 points. However the real winners were the two charities that the day and indeed year of charity activity were aimed towards, namely Prostate Cancer and the local charity Lives.
All in all a grand total in the region of £10,000 was raised throughout the year, which I'm sure will delight the recipients. Getting to such a huge total was helped in no small measure by two late and substantial donations, so a great thanks to the donor's involved. And of course a big thank you to everyone who supported the day itself by playing or volunteering, and sponsor Mike Read of Hyundai, who has once again shown great support.
Sunday saw the playing of the Bill Brown Rose Bowl. Unfortunately not a big turnout for this one, the winners were Carl Peart and Tony Diable, with a nett 65, 2nd with a nett 67 were Richard Gibson and Mark Fuller with a better last 6 holes. Well done chaps.
Just a quick reminder to all cup winners from last year, please can you return them to the office beautifully cleaned of course!
