Hi everyone, I hope you've all been out on the course enjoying the great run of weather we've had. Mr Davies is away in the U.S.A., as back up driver for the other 4 guy's that are on their motorbikes. I think they are doing around 450 miles a day, I think my mate may need another holiday to get over this one!
The football season is now well under way with only three teams winning their first 3 games, I'm glad to say the Red Devils are one of them, but wow did they leave it late against the battlers of Hull, great rear guard action from them, just show's what team spirit can achieve.
Talking of teams brings me nicely on to the result achieved by the A-team on Saturday the 27th at Laceby G.C., they ran out winners in the North Linc's area final, overcoming Gainsbourgh by 4 matches to 2. Yet again, they now go forward to play their counter parts in South for the County finals. It really has been a golden era for the first team, stretching back over 3 or 4 years now, let's hope they can bring home the trophy once again, well done to all the team, not just those present on Saturday, but also the whole squad, who played in various matches. It just shows how much strength in depth there is in the club.
There may well be more to come on the team front, when our Ladies attempt to win the league final, when they take on Blankney G.C. at Torksey G.C., on the 9th of September. The Ladies tee off at 11am, it would be greatly appreciated if we could drum up some spectator support on the day, what a double if they could bring it off, good luck to the whole team.
Men's Invitation Day
67 teams played in the second invitation day at Cleethorpes, with the winning pair of Dave Hannay and Craig Dalton posting the winning score of 65 to take the first prize. Dave kept his form from the previous week when he won the Hospital Cup at Cleethorpes with a nett 68.
Second place in the In the Invitation day event went to Alex Mason and Tony Griffiths also on 65 but losing on the back nine. Also on 65, but taking third place on the back six were Neil Holloway and T Goldstein, followed in fourth place by Wayne Padley and S Wrightman, also on 65. Captain Dave Reid playing with Grimsby Captain Mark Warner took fifth place with a nett 66.
The gross prize was won by John Jarrell with 69, with Darren Fuller taking second place one shot behind with a 70.

Div 3 was won by Craig Wood on 39 points, with Richard Mazingham 2nd with 38 points, well done to all the winners.
Bank holiday Monday saw the playing of the Millennium Cup, winners were Paul and Elaine Barker with 39 points, just getting the better of Mark and Sue Pearson by virtue of a better back nine, 3rd with 38 points were our Captains Dave and Chris Reid. Well played one and all.
The Grannies Cup
24 Ladies played in the Grannies Cup which was played in more favourable conditions than were forecast. Susan, the daughter of Floss Brown who donated the Grannies Cup in 1978, travelled from Spain to present her Mum's Cup. Pictured is the winner Anne Poultney coming in with a nett 67, with Lady Captain Chris Reid and Susan Ball. In second place with a great score of 68 was Elaine Barker, with Barbara Heald in 3rd place with 72.

Junior Championship day took place on Sunday the 28th August first gross was Cam Tuck with 75, Jack Woodhams was 2nd with an 80. The same two players were in the same position in the nett with Cam 75-8-67, and Jack 90-9-71. Winner of the 9 hole competition was young Jason Ellis.
Keep it simple on the course
There is no way you can take loads of swing thoughts out on the course, even if you've been working on something in lessons, leave that to the practice ground. The best thing is to concentrate on your target and try to make a rhythmical swing and nothing else. I recently saw an article on line, in which 28 tour players were asked their swing thoughts while playing, not one of them had a technical swing thought at all. They all had the target in mind and tried to create a great tempo. Take a leaf out of their book. Hope this helps.
