Well another week has flown by with lots going on at the club as ever.
Saturday saw very blustery conditions and not many breaking par as a result. Dave Hannay came out on top in the Hospital Cup with a fine 68, all the better as he won a dozen Pro Vs on Titleist's beat par initiative which was ran on the day. Second was Martin Thompson on 69, whilst Rob Butler's better back nine 70 saw him beat off Paul Duffield and Gary Radcliffe for third. Best gross was won by Jazza with a fine 71.
Sunday swathe rearranged
Sunday Morning Fourball Cup and I was delighted to see Mick Irvine and John Kitchen come out on top. Both have had health concerns of late, so a great boost to them both!!! Richard Ladd and Simon Peart shot 65 to take second whilst a better back nine from Pete Winn and Mark Debnam saw their 66 sneak into third spot!
Great Britain amazingly lie second in the medal table at the Olympics, with more gold to come I am sure!!! England lost the last test against a very good Pakistan side, making the series 2-2.
Football wise a great opening win from my mob, now to be owned by The Chinese, not a pleasing thought. Liverpool had a great win at Arsenal, and Man U started well. Man City came through against Sunderland, not looking their best mind. Spare a thought for Nigel Leach as he says I never mention his beloved Forest. The time I remember isn't it ironic they have just had a good beating?! I only mention this as Himself and Dave Smith gave Captain Dave and I a 7 and 5 kicking in our last Captain Pro outing, so fairs fair I would say. To be fair there would have been less shots at a pheasant shoot mind you.
I have really enjoyed the outings with Dave and hope to continue playing more and resurrecting the challenge with Glenn when he is Captain next season.
