Well Paul on typing duty this week as Rob is off for a few days.
Firstly a fantastic support on Saturday for Dave Reid on his Captain's Day, aided superbly by great weather.
With great support from his wife Chris they produced a memorable day for all, especially winner Rob Hornsey, a recently joined devotee to the club.
Well done on winning with a fine 63. Second was another newbie Tony Jennings on 67, beating 'BEEF' Melhuish into third spot on countback. A great 4th spot from Glenn Wishart on a better back nine 68 from Dan Snowden completed the nett prizes.
Best gross went to Martin Warren on 71 with Jazza in second on 72. There was a best front nine nett going to Nigel Corbett and back nine nett going to Alex Mason. Phil Frost won the over 55's from Malcolm Vaughan, who also won the gallon of beer for nearest the barrel on the 10th! Over 65's saw David Quantrill edge out Malcolm Cannon, whilst king of the over 75's was evergreen Geoff Smith. Sorry to give your age range away guys!
Long drive powerhouse was taken by Danny Houlton, and nearest the pins were won by Bob Duncan, Laddy, Joe Victory and Simon Peart!
These days need a good team to run well. Bill Garton and Dave Colvin were in charge of cards, with Comps Chairman Glenn Wishart overseeing the day and on the mic for the presentation at night. Well done to all the Ladies on the half-way house (sorry don't know all who manned this vital station), well done to all the starters too.
Steve and the boys had the course in great condition and Janine did her usual great job in the clubhouse. Lastly Ian Carroll had us all rocking later on the dance floor! Again well done to Mr Captain!
Congratulations to Gill Woodward on her victory in The Centenary Cup held on August 3rd. Gill scored a magnificent 69 in very windy conditions. Second place went to Janet Todd with a nett 70, with Jan Williams taking third place with a nett 72.
Well done to all three ladies who dropped their handicaps.
Shop wise we are still busy and recently G series has been very popular, especially after a successful demo day recently. We have a comprehensive fitting cart for both woods and irons, and with Micko on hand with Flightscope for a fitting (£25 per 40 minute session) we are confident of getting the right club in your hands to improve your golf. He also does gapping sessions on Flightscope at £20 per 30 minute session. Click here to book either service.
The loft and lie service is also still in great demand at £20 per set. It is amazing how lofts and lies get out of sync, so I feel this is a must do once a year! Again click here to request a booking. Shoes have been a real seller since the shoe wall came into the shop during the winter refurbishment.
FootJoy continue to be strong with a great heritage, but we have also had real success with Sketchers, doing them for the first time this season. Pop in for a browse and a try on.
Lastly on shop news we have a sale rail on the go right now, with shirts and sweaters form previous seasons on there at £20 each. Again pop in to bag yourself a bargain!
