Hi everyone, hope we find you well. It's been a busy week at the club, it seems to have flashed by in a blur. Friday saw the Tony Diable Charity Day, which Tony has been doing on an annual basis for a number of years now, in aid of Linkage who do a fantastic job with youngsters with learning difficulties. It's always a great day with great support from local golfers, who turn out year after year to back a great cause.
I'm sure Tony would like to thank everyone who contributed to the day and helped to make it such a success. Half way house helpers, Paul who did the cards, Janine and the team who kept everyone well fed and watered, as well as the students and staff at Linkage. I'm sure Linkage greatly appreciate what Tony has contributed to their organization.
On the results front Saturday we had the Les Stones memorial, a great supporter of Cleethorpes Golf Club Les lived and breathed the club, I can still hear his whistle now! As ever it was a great turnout with 128 entries. The winner was another of our new members who I have had the pleasure of giving a couple of lessons to namely David Rear with 84-16-68 winning by virtue of a better back nine from Craig Petherbridge yet another of our new intake, who shot 79-11-68, 3rd was Dr Dave Smith with 81-12-69.
Best gross was a 75 by Daniel Houlton. When David entered in the shop he asked who Les was, and after being told what a great former member he was David commented that then he would have to do him justice, well he did just that. Well played David.

Get your alignment sorted.
Time and time again we see players who are lining their body at the target, all sorts of problems will arise from this. The correct way to align is to get your club face aiming at the target, with your body aiming about a yard to the left parallel to the target line, think in terms of a railway track.
When you understand how to align correctly do not be tempted to change your routine. If the ball then flies offline then you have a swing fault, which needs attention and the best way to get to the bottom of that is to have a lesson or two. Hope this helps.
Is it the 'Big Three' or the 'Big Four'?
Just when you thought Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy were all set to divvy up golf's biggest prizes, along comes big-hitting Dustin Johnson. The US champion is now number two in the world and looks to be finally fulfilling his potential after another fine win at the weekend - and a big one too at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. For years Johnson seemed destined to be the bridesmaid, now he's one of the favourites to go back-to-back in Majors and take the Claret Jug back across the Atlantic.
Next week's Open at Royal Troon could be a classic
Which leads us on to a new section of our website - our regular poll, and we want your votes. Tell us who you think will win the Open Championship next week; will it be Day, Johnson, Spieth, McIlroy or A.N. Other?
