Morning everyone from a very windy Cleethorpes Golf Club. Well another week has flown by and I can't believe it's the last day of May already, let's hope that we really do get a flaming June otherwise we're in danger of missing out on a summer!
It's been a good weekend for English sport, our rugby team got out of jail against the Welsh after a fine second half display. Whilst the cricket boy's again thrashed Sri Lanka, although they did put up more of a fight in their second innings.
Results this week were as follows, the Ladies Golden Jubilee played in appalling conditions was won by Liz Stones and Pauline Smith with 36 points. Pauline is one of our new members so it's nice to see her being an instant success.
The Croft Baker Qualifier was won by Matt Smith with a fine nett 67, with young Jack Woodhams second with a nett 68. Best gross went to Martin Warren with a 74. The draw for the knock out stages has been posted on the notice board, well done to all of you who qualified.
The seniors played the Stan Dyte Rose Bowl on Tuesday which was won by John Slesser, well done John. Lastly on the results front our A Team managed a fine win at Immingham by four and a half to one and a half, well done guys.
Cleethorpes Golf Club Ladies Section Charity AM-AM
On Wednesday May 18th Lady Captain Christina Reid played host to 72 Ladies representing 18 teams in her Charity guest AM-AM.
Despite a heavy rain shower midway, a great day was had by all. The winning team of Kate Appleyard, Ann Brown, Dawn Simpson and Emma Rooke won for the second year running (82 points), with four teams battling for second place with 77 points.
Many thanks must go to, Steve Robinson (Insulated Conservatory Ceilings) for sponsoring the main prizes and to A Class Above Clinic who provided beauty product goodie bags for the winning teams. The event raised a fantastic £809, which will be split between the Captains charities, Prostate Cancer UK and LIVES responders.
