Welcome again to the weekly newsletter and update on what is going on both within the club and shop, and on a general sporting front.

 

Firstly a big congratulations to Grimsby Town on promotion back to the football league. Having been a few times this season I have felt the manager had tinkered too much, but fair play he has got the Town promoted. Also a mention for Pete Tingle and Tony Hawkes Sheffield Wednesday team who are playing Monday to try to get in the playoffs!!! There was very little to play for except pride in the Premiership, but the story there was the 'bomb' issue at Old Trafford!!! My boys got another draw against mightier opponents in Liverpool, who obviously have one eye on the Cup final coming up.




Congratulations to Sue and Mark Pearson, winners of the Diamond Jubilee Trophy. The trophy was presented by John Bayliss and Lynda Tasker in their Captains year.

Saturday saw a difficult day playing wise with gusty winds. Phil Frost won The Beardsall Cup with the only sub-par round of 69. Shaun Mitchell was second on 70, with Simon Peart third on 71 and Dave Cullum winning fourth spot with a better back nine 72. Best gross with a superb 71 was Darren Fuller, proving again what a great player in adverse conditions he is. Also a note from Glenn Wishart that his first outing leading the B team as vice saw a 6-0 drubbing of Elsham on their own patch. Well done also to Gill Kapka for getting down to 2!

Don't forget there are still plenty of spots for the first Invitation day on 24th June, so pop into the shop to enter. This event is Stableford this year, 24 handicap and 9/10th's to give the higher handicap guys more incentive to play. The Pro-Am currently has 42 Pros booked to play, we still need 2 teams at 9.10 and 9.20 if you want to play. Lastly Captain's Am-Am sheet for Sunday 26th June is open on the spike bar notice board.

Two big results hot off the golf course from last week.

Wednesday saw Captain Dave Reid and I beat Jack Evans and Bodge Barker 2 and 1, with myself playing some better golf to boot. I was not quite so good on Thursday, but with partner Lewis Peters on a birdie blitz we saw off Bodge again, playing with MR ALEXANDER FAIRFAX MICKLEBURGH, and we prevailed 2 and 1. 

Now I am not a bragging man, particularly over the standard of my golf the last few years, but Alex had stated we are going down by a dog licence. Please don't mention this loss of his to him though as he is most sensitive about it!

Shop wise the better weather sees an upturn for us I am glad to say. Fitting is free via our partners PING, TAYLORMADE and TITLEIST when spending £299 or more, so now is a great time to swap clubs. Lesson packages at £100 for 7 lessons are available, and also FLIGHTSCOPE lessons at £25 for thirty minutes can be booked. Micko is still the man for the gapping sessions at £20 for thirty minutes.
