Greetings from Paul Davies
Cleethorpes Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

Hi everyone,

Robin here standing in for Mr Davies this week as he is in London for a couple of days. From my own point of view it’s great to be back at work after my latest and hopefully last visit to the surgeon's table, at least for a few years anyway. I’d like to thank all of you who have asked after my well being, particularly Alec Campbell, who, as last time took me to the hospital and picked me up post op. I am teaching again as of this week so if you need to book in again please do. Click here to let me know

As most of you will know, the club has been building towards an Open Day that took place on Sunday April 27th. There was a great turn out for both parts of the event, some 85 players took advantage of the playing offer, with a further 40 or so having a go at the FREE lesson classes. I’m sure Janine and her team were run ragged with the amount of fish and chips they had to provide, but as always, they did a great job. Indeed the feel of the whole day was very encouraging I’m sure the end result will be an increase in new players to the game and indeed hopefully an influx of new members. In the shop we have already signed up some of the participants to follow up lesson’s which can only auger well for the future.

On the results front, the Seddon Cup was played for on Saturday April 26th, 3 players scored 39 pointsRoger Holt, Zak Mawer & Dave Cullum. The winner was Roger Holt. The Midweek Medal played on 24th April, was won by Dave O’Hare with a great score of nett 63, 2nd was James Coleman also with nett 63, 3rd with nett 67 was young Jack Evans. Best Gross went to Ash Ryecroft with a fine 74.

The ladies played for the St Georges Day Cup. The winner was Barbara Bayliss with 37 points for Div1, winner Div2 was Margaret Walker with 36 points, and the winner of Div3 was Elaine Barker with 35 points. Well done to all of you Ladies.

Our first team managed a fine win in the Elsham Foursomes, the guy’s did well to finish as some of the Elsham lad’s were late on parade. I’ve heard it was a matter of playing in the dark, so well done guys for getting the job done.

Jack Evans scored his first Hole-In-One at the 8th, 191 yards, par 3 from the white tees, with his 5 iron on 17/04/2014 while taking part in the Junior Stableford Cup

He has qualified for the H1Club, an exclusive organisation for golfers who have scored a hole-in-one

Wednesday 23 April 2014 - St. George's Day Stableford Competition

Upcoming comps include a E.W.G.A. Medal for the ladies on Wednesday the 30th April.

The Men play for the Sunday Morning Fourball Cups on Saturday the 3rd of May, 4ball better ball medal 20 max handicap ¾ of.

In the shop we are about to take delivery of a FlightScope, which will be invaluable in our ability to give you all a high Tec fitting experience without the need for you to travel to another venue. Some of you have already had your loft and lies checked in the shop, those who haven’t I strongly advise that you do as it makes a tremendous difference to the distance and direction your ball will travel.

We have taken delivery of some great clothing from both FootJoy and PING, lots of vibrant colours and style’s, come and have a look at your leisure.

All of us in the shop are committed to helping you get the best enjoyment possible from your golf. If you have any questions or queries then please don’t hesitate to contact us. Today's distance measuring devices are accurate to within a yard, giving you precise yardages to the flag. But that's only of any use to you if you know how far you hit each iron. Follow these guidelines to achieve just that.
