Hi everyone hope you are all well,
It's been a relatively quiet week at the club although the course was absolutely packed on Friday, I think mainly due to the glorious weather, and due to the fact that all you workers had a day off from the rigours of your normal Friday's. Alas it wasn't to last turning much colder from Saturday onwards.
We managed to get the 6th and last winter league played on Saturday, the change in weather was reflected in the scores. 1st with 66 were Baz Johnson/Mark Godfrey, winning on the back nine from Dave Reid/Dave Hannay. Here I must apologise to Andy Spencer, for not recording the great 60 he and Phil Frost recorded the week before, he was crestfallen that he hadn't got a mention. I did point out that it was hard to be believe he had made a major contribution, unfortunately his partner did confirm that it had indeed been a team effort, so I'm putting this glaring omission on my part right! The matches to be played in the next section of the winter league will be posted on the notice board this week.
The Masters is just around the corner, which I think really heralds the start of the new season. Most of the main contenders seem to be in fine fettle, having watched some of the match play tournament in the States last week, both Mr McIlroy and Mr Day will be very hard to beat. Should be a great week of golf, hopefully it will kick-start the golfing year in fine style.
Just a quick word about the International football , what a result for England in Germany, dare we hope for tournament success in the Euro's! We still need to sort out the defence, but how good did they look in attack, next up the Dutch this evening, let's hope for more of the same.
Captains Challenge
Dave Reid has teamed up with Paul Davies to challenge any pair to an 18 hole match to be played on a Wednesday evening where possible. The stake will be £10, with the loosing pair donating the stake to the Captains Fund. Look out for the list on the notice board.
Thank you
The Captains would like to thank the Senior men for raising £80 for their Captains Fund by running a 9 hole comp and name card. The Ladies Bingo night and Fashion show have raised funds for both Charities and Captains fund, a big thank you to all those involved.
Treasure Hunt
Look out for the Treasure Hunt which will run from May to the end of July and can be done in groups of adults or families. Each pack will cost £5 and contain a map and clues, once completed they will be returned to a designated place with all correct entries going into a prize draw. Look out for further details on the notice board.
Happy golfing
Dave & Chris Reid
Your Captains
In the shop we are still tinkering with the layout, and still await the new Under Armour range of apparel. Some of you have noticed a lack of pricing of stock, unfortunately we ran into technical problems with a new ticketing system, which even caused a problem for our computer guru Alex, and if he couldn't sort it there was no chance for yours truly. We have a chap coming this week who will sort it for us, so hopefully all items will be clearly priced as of this week.
As ever loft and lie checks are available, and if you are thinking of new clubs in the near future make sure you book a fitting with Alex on the FlightScope. Click here to book yours.
