Hi everyone, Rob scribing again this week, Mr Davies has got away from it all for a few days, visiting his Daughter and Grand kids. He's back in on Thursday.
Once again there's not a lot to report this week, delighted to be able to comment on some better weather for a change, the course seems to be drying out nicely at last.
I'm not saying anything about football this week owing to the return to dire form of my Man Utd, even L.V.G. seems to accept their short comings this time. No I'd rather concentrate on the much more agreeable game of Rugby Union, England march on after a rather late show against Italy, which puts them ahead of the pack in the standings, it's only the English and French that can do the grand slam now, England have the harder games to come, Ireland are up next always a heavy weight clash, can't wait for that one.
Results from the winter league are as follows
1st A. McDonald/J. McDonald, with a fine score of 62, 2nd with 63 was Mr Captain and D. Hannay.
Just a reminder for Mother's day on the 6th March 3 course meal available for only £14.95 booking is advisable to avoid disappointment.
New stock continues to come through the door for the new season, PING woods, TaylorMade M2, and Scotty Cameron putters, also keep a look out for the new Vokey wedges from Titleist.
A warning from the golf police
Hands up who's got three points on their licence for getting caught driving on bald tyres. We'll spare you the lecture, it's not for us to warn you about the dangers of not replacing your tyres when they're running low on tread. However, golf grips that are worn and shiny… now that is our area of concern - and we'd happily fine anyone at the club for playing with worn ones!
Your grip is the only point of contact between you and your club, so it stands to reason that if you can't get the traction you need, you'll struggle to produce a fluid swing; cue hook, slice, thin, top. Over the next few weeks we encourage you to read our features on why it's so important to re-grip your clubs and how we can help find grips that are right for you.
Do you play a lot in the wet weather?
Are your hands bigger than the average person's?
There are so many options, and given the chance to try a new grip you'll be amazed by the difference you feel straight away. Playing with worn grips is one of the biggest equipment failures in the amateur game. We can help fix this destructive problem in no time at all, just come and speak to us in the shop. Lecture over!
