Well we must start with The Masters this week and what an absorbing four days it turned out to be, with firm greens creating mayhem for three days and then softer greens on the last day often foxing the players initially. Bubba again showed great composure to win from newish names Jordan Blixt and Jason Spieth. Lee Westwood gained another top ten finish, best ball striker of the week, but again missed too many putts to truly contend. Great to see Jimenez and Langer and to some degree Couples rolling back the years, and a better finish in the end from Mcllory. It was a shame Mickleson missed the cut for the first time though.
Elsewhere in sport well done to Hull City in reaching a cup final against Arsenal. It was a shame for Mike Read’s Sheffield Blades who contributed well to a great game of football, but in the end Premiership nous did tell. My boys gave up a three goal lead against Spurs to keep me on tenderhooks a while longer, and with Cardiff and Fulham winning it may make for a nervy end of the season, especially as we have Man City away up next. Liverpool fans will be flying after their 3-2 win against probably their biggest rivals City, although Chelsea kept up the heat with a hard fought 1-0 win away at Swansea.
Down at the club the largely good weather has seen a surge in golfers on the course which is a great sight. This weekend saw the last of the non qualifiers with a pro stableford. Jamie Richardson prevailed in division two with 39 points whilst recently returned to the club, Matty Hancock immediately got back in the winners chair to take division one with 38 points.
Saturday also saw the first team take on the RAF team who then played the Lincs first team here on the Sunday. As yet I don’t have any results to give you.
Rob Goodway is recovering very well from his hip replacement and we should see him return to some shop time soon, with him getting back on to the teaching area a little while after that. He has been appreciative of all your best wishes.

Shop wise we are still awaiting the FlightScope and Alex in particular is a little frustrated. With all purchasing forms sent and approved we were only then told they had none in the country! We should see a delivery date just after Easter now and once trained up we will roll the facility out to be used.
The grip bar has proved hugely popular in the shop and we have seen several changes of grip size as a result of a grip fitting. If you have not yet availed yourself of this facility feel free to pop in for a look. Also the loft and lie machine is seeing good use, again pop in to discuss the merits of correctly fitted lofts and lies to help your game. This also applies if you are looking at new clubs, and clearly the most popular iron sale right now is G25! Wood popularity is split right down the middle between G25 again and the SLDR.
Best selling shoe to date is a close run tie between the BOA contours which nett down to £79.99 from £129 if you take advantage of the shoe trade in, and the soft trainer style golf shoe called AWD which are £59.99. Also selling well at a great price point is the Stuburt casual shoe in both men and ladies at £40, and don’t forget Ladies the fantastic FootJoy Casual Superlite shoe selling at £59.99.
The shop is now full of exciting new products and we are pleased with how the shop is looking. The Ladies deal on the new PING clothing has been well received, simply 10% OFF any one item, 15% OFF any two items or 20% OFF any three items bought in any one transaction. Feel free to pop in to try on.
S3 trolley now in stock with choice of Lead Acid or Lithium Battery.

Fixtures
Saturday 19th April Medal (first qualifier)
Monday 21st April Mixed Social
Wednesday 23rd April Ladies St George Competition and Seniors match away vs Elsham
Please also a reminder to check the white notice board for any tee reservations for the week so you can arrange your play to avoid any clashes and therefore disappointment.
Also bookings for the classes are going well with a few spaces left for men at 10 and a few for Ladies at 11. To date the junior free class at 12 has no bookings, come on parents get you kids booked in as this is a great time to get them off those PlayStations! The couples class at 1 has two couples on at present so again if you know of any couples who want to try the game that would be a good class to hook them into. We have a spare class at 2 if the others get full too so encourage as many into the game as you can. I must say I have been impressed with the marketing skills of Jude who has led our little band of marketing committee so well, and with the response from the board and the members to promoting perhaps the friendliest place to play golf around!
Well that’s it for this week, have a cracker, Paul
P.S. I have been wall building in the garden of our new place the last few weeks and am very pleased with the results. Having laid 128 bricks last Sunday I felt ready for a career change until I was informed a professional bricklayer would lay a minimum of 400 in a day!
